PROCESS
We believe great design isn’t just what you see, it’s how you get there. Our signature six-phase process sets Pony apart, placing transparency, collaboration and strategic insight at the heart of every project so you feel informed, supported and confident throughout the journey.
PHASE 1:
DESIGN STRATEGY & BRIEFING
We work with you to define the project scope, align vision, program, budget and partners, and craft a detailed Design Strategy. Early alignment and engagement prevents costly detours later and ensures we all start on the same page, with the right team.

PHASE 2:
CONCEPT DESIGN
We develop the overarching story for your project, functional planning options and a concept design for your approval. Investing time in the Concept Design phase provides a strong creative direction, a platform for input and collaboration with all project partners, and mitigates major redesigns later.
- Functional planning options produced
- Concept design package produced and workshopped
- Cost plan and program finalised (by project partners such as your builder or project manager)
- Input from consultants (authorities, approvals, services etc.) is provided

PHASE 3:
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
We refine the approved concept into a comprehensive design package covering finishes, furniture, joinery and detailed visuals so you know what you’re getting, and to protect design integrity during construction.
- Design development package produced and workshopped
- Visual communication of final design presented
- Furniture, finishes and fixtures selections finalised
- Custom joinery detailing is designed
- Coordination with consultants incorporated into the design
- Approvals, program and cost plan are reviewed (by project partners)

PHASE 4:
DOCUMENTATION
We turn the final design into a full documentation set for authorities and approvals, tender and construction, working closely with the rest of your project team.
- Documentation review and coordination with project partners and consultants

- Final consultant coordination input into the documentation package

PHASE 5:
CONSTRUCTION
We collaborate on-site with your builder and project team through ongoing design reviews, collaboration and coordination to ensure the design intent is preserved right through to completion.
- Regular site meetings identified for the project duration
- RFIs (requests for information) responded to throughout the construction phase
- Shop drawings are reviewed
- Design management and on site coordination is ongoing for the program length
PHASE 6:
PROJECT COMPLETION
We finalise all elements – perform inspections, manage install of furniture and styling, and ensure everything is ready for hand-over. This thorough completion phase guarantees quality, consistency, and a polished space ready for operation.
- Installation of furniture is coordinated and delivered
- Final site inspection completed
