The Growers Shoalhaven

BRIEF:
TO CREATE A CONTEMPORARY AND CASUAL INDOOR-OUTDOOR BAR AND EATERY, EMBRACING THE SOUTH COAST LIFESTYLE; WHERE COAST MEETS COUNTRY.

EXPERIENCE:
SITUATED AMONGST ROLLING HILLS AND WITH A HINT OF THE SEA IN THE AIR, THE GROWERS FEELS LIKE A BEACH-SIDE HOLIDAY, BUT ONE THAT IS STEADFASTLY COUNTRY, REMINDING US OF OUR RURAL AUSTRALIAN SETTING.

Alala’s

BRIEF

Capture the essence of spring – an elegant garden conservatory space that pays tribute to a 70-year old oak tree.

EXPERIENCE

Fronting onto the iconic tree that gives the Oaks Hotel its name, Alala’s brings the outside in.

Custom sandstone tiles surrounding the bar echo the sandstone garden beds outside while the varied and textured stone flooring guides guests through the space.

The original 1930’s bar layout has been brought to life. Parisian-style seating invites guests to nestle into sumptuous creamy cognac leather seating nooks.

Lemon hues signal springtime and invoke aromatics from the cocktail bar. It’s an Art Deco inspired haven – the perfect spot to enjoy a long summer lunch or an al fresco afternoon of cocktails.

Taffy’s Sports Bar

BRIEF

Curate the authentic sports bar Sydney’s been waiting for: the hang out so enjoyable it beats being at the game.

EXPERIENCE

From the use of sporting colours to the design materials that echo sporting stadiums, Taffy’s celebrates the game experience.

It’s kitsch that’s cool; there’s something everywhere you look. A life-sized Richie Benaud will greet you as you head toward the bar decorated with novelty beer taps. Giant foosball tables and arcade-style basketball hoops stand alongside the big game screens.

It’s the ultimate man cave reminiscent of ‘the cool brother’s room’, where everyone wants to be, and something is always happening.

The Oaks Bottle Shop & Take Away

BRIEF

Create a unique space that’s part bottle shop, part local diner – where the love of home cooked food and local craft beverages shines through.

EXPERIENCE

An homage to simpler times, the Bottle Shop references the past while catering for the modern consumer. It’s old-school chippy meets bespoke retail offering, and it works.

Leveraging existing architectural elements and original detailing, the retro furniture and powder blue and burgundy accents emanate the welcoming charm of an old school milk bar.

Rich dark timbers and hidden seating nooks inject a level of exclusive sophistication reminiscent of a speakeasy.

The inviting food area flows seamlessly into the clean, lightly industrial retail space –the ultimate go-to for brews and a quick bite.

The Fernery

BRIEF:
TO CREATE ‘SYDNEY’S BEST ROOFTOP BAR’, WITH A DESIGN THAT LEVERAGED AND ENHANCED THE SITE’S OCEAN AND HARBOUR VIEWS, WITHOUT WHOLLY RELYING ON THEM.

EXPERIENCE:
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO LURE THE CROWDS FROM THEIR CBD PERCHES AND INTO THE WILDS OF MOSMAN?
A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE THAT TRANSFORMS AN OUT-OF-THE-WAY MID-CENTURY BUILD INTO A DESTINATIONAL VENUE.

AT THE FERNERY, WE POLISHED A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH, TURNING OUT A GEM OF A SPACE THAT CHANNELS A 70S-ESQUE GREENHOUSE AESTHETIC WITH A SPLASH OF HIGHBROW CHARM.

WE HONOURED EXISTING ELEMENTS, INCORPORATING TEAL AND TERRACOTTA TONES TO PUNCTUATE THE CRISP, WHITE TEXTURES THROUGHOUT.

IT’S A REPRIEVE FROM URBAN LIFE; A PLACE OF ELEGANT GREENERY AND UNABASHED DECADENCE.

Bankstown Sports Club Workspace

BRIEF

DESIGN A SPACE THAT WAS BOTH A FUNCTIONAL WORKPLACE AND A HOME AWAY FROM HOME. WHERE STAFF COULD WORK, CONNECT AND RELAX. AND ABOVE ALL, CELEBRATE A CULTURE WHERE EVERYONE HAS A SEAT AT THE TABLE.

EXPERIENCE

The timeless design captures an active Australian lifestyle with modern simplicity. The neutral, earthy palette and texture layered on texture creates subtle interest, while soft edges and curved lines reflect human movement and organic forms.

Inside, the open and inviting reception area provides a perfect position for the Club to showcase their projects and community initiatives. Outside, there’s ample space for teams to yoga, lunch or barbeque.

It’s the best of both worlds – equal parts let’s-get-down-to-business and make-yourself-at-home.

Equities First

BRIEF
OUR BRIEF WAS SIMPLE: POSITION EQUITIES FIRST HOLDINGS AS LEADERS IN THEIR INDUSTRY WITH AN ENVIRONMENT THAT WAS RESPONSIVE, OPEN AND FORWARD-THINKING.

EXPERIENCE
THE RESULT? A FLEXIBLE, OPEN AND INNOVATIVE ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCAPSULATES THE EQUITIES FIRST COMPANY CULTURE AND BRAND VISION.

WE DESIGNED A WORKSPACE EXPERIENCE THAT IS EQUAL PARTS ALLURING AND UNDERSTATED; MAXIMIZING THE DRAMATIC HARBOR VIEW AGAINST A NEUTRAL BASE PALETTE OF WARM GREYS, SOFT TIMBERS AND RICH BROWNS.

A SLEEK STONE FRONT-OF-HOUSE, A THOUGHTFULLY CONCEALED KITCHEN, DIFFUSED TRANSLUCENT SLIDING SCREENS AND PERFECTLY TIMED INJECTIONS OF CORPORATE COLOUR DEMONSTRATE ROBUST CAPABILITY AND CULTURAL TRANSPARENCY.

GROUNDED, YET THOROUGHLY ASPIRATIONAL.

The Alcott

BRIEF:
CREATE A CONTEMPORARY MULTIPURPOSE DINING AND SOCIAL SPACE THAT WOULD ATTRACT CLIENTELE FROM ALL OVER SYDNEY, WHILE BRINGING NEW LIFT TO A HISTORICAL SITE.

EXPERIENCE:
AT THE ALCOTT, WE PAY TRIBUTE TO THE SITE’S HERITAGE. OUR DESIGN EMBRACED THE MANY ‘POCKET’-TYPE AREAS WITHIN THE EXISTING VENUE TO CREATE DISTINCTIVE SPACES AND INTIMATE NOOKS.

REPLICATING THE VISUAL EXPERIENCE ON A SENSORY LEVEL, QUIETLY COMPETING COLOURS AND TEXTURES ADD DEPTH TO THE ATMOSPHERE, WHILE SOFT INTERIOR LIGHTING SETS A SOPHISTICATED MOOD.

THE MID-CENTURY MODERN ERA IS EXPLORED THROUGH A PALETTE OF BOLD, SLIGHTLY NOSTALGIC COLOURS, ACCENTED WITH PRE-LOVED FINDS THAT REPRESENT THE LAYERS OF HISTORY WITHIN THIS VENUE.
